SY 2007-'08: My Learnings in Computer

As another quarter approached,
a whole new and more challenging topic was introduced to us.
.

a. First Quarter
~~ We were taught about the internet and different programming languages. We had an in-depth topic on the HTML(or Hypertext Mark-up Language). We talked about its very long history which became short after awhile. HTML is the set of codes used in adding color, altering fonts, putting images, formatting the text, changing the background and et cetera in creating a Web Page. Our project was to create a Website under Geocities.

b. Second Quarter
~~ We were taught about making flowcharts, the meaning of the shapes and the flow of a program. Flowchart is used as a guide when you already create a program. We also had a bit of tasting on the Dev C++ Software. We had an only shallow topic on the basic displaying of words, characters: an output. We created a project under Dev C++ where we tried to show an image through careful characters.
.
c. Third Quarter
~~ We had an in-depth topic of the programming language of Dev C++. We studied about the codes and of different uses of programming. We made a guessing game program, loop program, and programs applying on our daily lives such as inventory and restaurant. We were taught about the functions of different terms in a program. Our project was to create a conversion program.
.
d. Fourth Quarter
~~ We were taught about the whole concept of blogging, its definition, history, and types. We made an actual blog where we updated it frequently. We posted about the current events at school and the products, our handicrafts. We discussed of this handicraft too. We made many different craft which were really difficult and required patience such as butterfly/dragonfly. Our project was to make an artificial orchid.

My Favorite Movie

EMPIRE OF THE SUN (1987) by Steven Spielberg
based on a Novel by J.G. Ballard
.
To survive in a world at war,
he must find a strength
greater than all the events that surround him...
.
a. Why did you choose that movie?
~~ I chose this movie because the story is really above the rest, it is connected with war(which interests me), and the twists were heart-striking.
.
b. What part of the movie struck you most and why?
~~ The part of the movie which struck me most was when his only friend (Japanese kid) was killed(the time when the Americans started to overthrow the Japanese). I chose this because you will really feel the loss, the sympathy to the boy where his last friend left him, nothing was left.
.
c. With which character in the movie can you relate most? Why?
~~ James Graham, the English boy, because like him, I face challenges in life. Yet unlike him, despite these challenge I often do not realize to fight, to reconstruct life and to help restore others' hope as what he did.
.
d. What are the morals you have learned from that movie?
~~ We do not know what or when anything can happen in our lives. I learned that we must never lose hope in this unexpected world and be really strong in facing anything that life is to offer.

My Artificial Orchid

A BOUQUET FOR...ma'am. haha. =p

surrounding my room while letting the glue dry(to shine daw). haha. :)
.
balikin pa kaya 'to? :'
.
a. What part of the orchid did you feel difficult to make?
~~ Mine is not a part of the orchid but a part of making the orchid, which was attaching the petals and throats to the bud. This was because I realized that the extra wire for attaching them was too short and the wire was size 16(!?@#$) so it was really hard. My thumb was almost removed(haha).
.
b. What did you learn in making the orchid?
~~ In making the orchid I learned that nothing is impossible. I really thought I cannot do it, but then I just did. :D Also, I learned that the next valentine's, it is preferable to give artificial orchid than real ones because it lasts forever and never dies(aww).
.
c. Post descriptions to sell your artificial orchid.
~~ First of all, the materials used were all expensive that's why it is expensive. Its color combination is very nice. Also, the leaves' color(dark green) is the best color of all. It is very good to give on Valentine's Day on February 14, 2009 so buy it now. Why now? Because so many people rush just to buy it you might lose it and though you buy it now, it will never die until the day you will give it. It's just so wonderful. :)

My Artificial Butterfly and Dragonfly

My Artificial Butterfly and Dragonfly
.
It took me a lot of time, effort, and dedication in doing my butterfly and dragonfly. I slept at around 4 am the day before submission for I really had to finish the buttefly and also paint it.
REMINDER: I HAVE NOT YET TAKEN A PICTURE OF MY BUTTERFLY AS I HAVE PASSED IT RIGHT AWAY TO MA'AM PASIGNA. :D
.
a. What did you learn in making the butterflies?
~~ In making the butteflies, I learned how expectations is directly proportional to how much patience you give. The more you expect, the more you have to be patient. The lesser you expect, the lesser you have to be patient. Sacrifice comes first before everything else.
.
b. Give at least three (3) significances of the artificial butterflies.
~~ Artificial butterflies can be a decoration, a source of income, and a form of self-expression. It is a decoration wherein you can display it on your room, or leave it on your garden. It can be a source of income where if you really are expertised on it, you can sell it . It is significant as a form of self-expression wherein you can express yourself, realize your talents and improve.
.
c. Post descriptions to sell this item.
~~ My artificial butterfly and dragonfly looks very real, just the right size, the right figure, the right color. Surely if you purchase one, you will enjoy fooling your friends that it is a true butterfly. LAUGH, ENJOY, HAVE FUN!

Family Day '08

"Celebrating a Tradition of Companionship"
.

.....The Family Day '08 was held last February 24 at the Kreutz Campus. Students, teachers, and parents came together to celebrate a tradition of companionship. Unlike the last year, I failed to join the motorcade because I felt worn-out. Yet I was able to join the mass together with my mother. Both my father and brother were sick, and I understood they could not come. The whole program from 4pm to 9pm was really fun. During the night, I and my classmates played hide and seek where they fooled and left me: lost. Then the celebration ended with a beautiful fireworks display.

.....Instead of completely doing an article about my sole experience, I thought of describing the theme, "Families Celebrate a Tradition of Companionship" in my own point of view. Primarily it tells us that Family Day already is a tradition, a custom of the school since many years ago. The families come together to celebrate this treasured tradition to build a community of relations, an alliance. Family day involves not only of one family but of many bounded as one.

My Picture Frame

~ A Childhood Picture of Mine ~
Wahaha
a.) How did you feel making the picture frame?
~~ In making the picture frame, I felt excited. Who wouldn't be excited seeing an ugly carton paper turn into a wonderful artpiece? Also, you want the best possible frame to put your self in, so there is this sense of mission within myself that a memorable picture of mine deserves only the best frame(though I don't remember this event anymore haha)
.
b.) Compare your picture frame from frames displayed in dep't stores.
~~ Firstly, frames being sold in department stores don't contain such a wonderful and precious picture as mine(haha lol). Also, my frame is not for sale: for it is priceless.

My Handicrafts' Photos

---#1---
The Candle Holder is
a simple green-themed cup bordered with dark-
and-olive-green-coloured-laces sprinkled w/ green buttons all
around. Inside it are small shells glued on the
excess laces plus a superb candle.
.

---#2---
The Treasure Box is
an old-age-inspired container box.
It's like a long lost love box then found once again.
The smell is really old and materials were
burned really carefully.

.
------ Always let us support the local art industry. :)) ------
So these are my projects in Practical Arts.

A Valentine's Day Article

Struck by Cupid this Season?
.
.....It's Valentine's Day once again.
.....Restaurant owners, chocolate stores, flower shops. Include all those other shops in the list. They'll all be filled with people this season. They'll all find happiness. But the real happy people are no other than those struck by Cupid, and his arrows. Cupid (Latin cupido) is the god of erotic love and sex. In popular culture, Cupid is frequently shown shooting his bow to inspire romantic love and sex. Interesting. But not all people struck by Cupid are happy. Perhaps, out of every 10 of them, only 2 or 3 are happy. The other 7 are heartbroken. Aww. But I can say that atleast they'll be inspired this season.
.
.....I will just share to you a very wonderful description of love, found in no other than in the Holy Bible:
.
......"Love's patient, love's kind,
............Doesn't envy, doesn't boast.
..................Isn't proud.
........................Not rude, not easily angered...
..............................Protects, trusts, hopes, perseveres.
....................................Love never fails."
...... - 1 Corinthians13:4
.
.....Hope you have been inspired, even just for a moment, just a little bit, just for a while. Be inlove.
.....Happy Valentine's Day!!!

A Poem On My Life

Clock of My Life
by Marvin T. Lagonera
.
.
Everything started with that first tick of the clock,
On the 28th of March 1993, 0:01 to be exact.
Everyone again saw the miracle called life,
Start of a life to be filled with love and strife.
.
Then I had the consciousness, I had the vision;
I started to realize the essence of having education,
The short hand now points at 4, the long 6,
It's 4 hours 30 minutes past the first tick.
.
It has been long years of education since then,
5 hours for the grade school years but then,
On the 10.5th hour, a high school life began,
I started realizing life's changes as a magic of a wand.
.
As complicated to understand my clock is myself,
At the present, a sophomore studying at Ateneo;
Blue Eagle soaring; in the seas I continue to row,
My clock, a witness to this life's pleasures and sorrows.

Poem for Mr. Tim Berners-Lee

Prism of the Web
by Marvin T. Lagonera
.
.
Pallid, colorless world of sites before,
T'was cause of a man who wanted more,
Who visioned putting over a rainbow;
Be the prism, have a leap from below.
.
.
As prisms are, complication is in the code,
Not for those inconsistent of the road,
They who lose light then loses the way,
Will not see a work where efforts pay.
.
.
All these made possible by this man,
Now a somebody from only an anyone,
The language HTML is this great lift,
Mr. Tim Berners-Lee's most wonderful gift.
